Did you know that not all mummies are wrapped? If not, this  text is good for you!

Some mummies are formed by the climate. For example, scientists have found frozen mummies on the mountains. Some were also dried out from the heat. Also, the mummies that are buried in caskets, have jewelry and/or valuables buried with them. Scientists found a lady who was covered in soap and was dried out. They have also found animals mummies that are dried out or frozen. Get this, Scientists in Egypt have found fake mummies because they used to be worth a lot of valuables.

The mummies you might be thinking of, are the ones that are wrapped and in caskets. Scientists must do CT scans to find what is inside. For example, the jewels, or organs. The Egyptians stored there organs inside of little containers with animals that guard the organs. The Egyptians used to bury those containers, but they do not anymore. They put them in the casket with the body. Inside of the casket they put many layers on top of the mummy. That is why they must do CT scans to see all these traits. They also find their gender, by their hips and/or pelvis. The women’s have a smaller hip size so they can give birth.

Some mummies can be up to 3,000 years older than other mummies! The ones in Peru are older than the ones in Egypt because of the older civilization. The Egyptians used to have ceremonies of taking apart the mummies. This is where they would bury the organs.

Mummies are just one of the most fascinating things about Science, but there are many more. Mummies are found everywhere; you may even find one in your backyard! (if you dug like 300 ft) We hope you were entertained with this informational text.
